"We are practical...We do not just preach; we are doers of the Word"
Hello to you,
Watford City PIWC was the place to be on the 27th of March Mother's Day. We were grateful to have our SALEM PIWC District Women's Leader in the person of Dcns. Dora Josiah, who spoke on the theme, "Woman be an example in your generation" (1 Corithians 4:16-17, Acts 9:36-42)
On this day, Dcns. Josiah, encouraged all to embody the generosity of Dorcas.
The compassionate heart of a woman, is unfathomable. Dorcas was a woman who was unbelievable kind and generous. The question we need to ask ourselves; What good is your faith, if your deeds are dead? The truth is, she would not have been mentioned in the bible if it wasn’t for her generosity.
It was her generosity that won the hearts of people and her fellow disciples, who called for Peter to come and see her when she died. Her generosity caused the widows she had sown clothes for and cared for, to wait by her body in the upper room, crying. Her generosity, meant that The Lord still had need for her to bring her back to life, to continue to care for those in need.
As christians, we are in a position to be the solution to the problems in the world. God has called you to be a light, in places of darkness; and the salt in the life of those who a lost and misguided. Often at times, we are too focused on ourselves, to realise the needs and cries of others around us.
James 2:14-17 says, " What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead".
What good is our faith, if we do not take action in deeds towards others in need around us?
Dcns. Dora explained that the lives of women and men are intertwined. One cannot do without the other, because women, were made from men, and men are born of women. "We are intertwined. Women enhance and enlighten the lives of men and all those around them" Dcns. Dora explained.
She advices, "Women, don’t sell yourself short...Women are exceptional!". She also advices the young men, "Life is getting so hard right now. Men, appreciate and respect women. Respecting a woman, will open doors for you."
Dcns. Dora concludes her sermon by saying, "Generosity is something you decide and do...In the Church of Pentecost- UK, we are practical. We do not just preach, but we are doers of the Word. We take action".
